Abstract
Adventures in the Zooniverse : Science with 900,000 volunteers
The web has enabled new forms of collaboration between academics and audiences; amongst the most successful are the citizen science projects on the Zooniverse.org platform, which have enabled volunteers to discover planets, be the first to read ancient papyri and keep an eye on the Serengeti. Zooniverse PI Chris Lintott will review the challenges of working with the crowd, including how to build an infrastructure that stands up to Brian Cox telling 4 million people to hit your website, and look forward to a future of machine-human collaboration to cope with the largest datasets in the world
